The brand Twin n Nem was built in memory of Jacob Buchanan’s(CEO) twin nephews and older cousin. The young CEO’s twin nephews and cousin were brilliant men, they were men who understood what it means to have character and morals and understood the walk of life. Unfortunately, they were succumbed by the hardships of violence and betrayal of the streets and domestic abuse. The deaths sparked a change in Jacob and in his way of life, to want better for himself, his family, and his culture. “The vision of Twin n Nem is to help communities and cultures realize that the only way to advance in life is to unite and to treat and to see one another as ourselves, that we might care for one another as ourselves. The word twin means to be similar or alike or corresponding parts of a pair. The phrase Twin n Nem means a group of people similar or alike or corresponding. In black culture when you refer to a group of people, you include in your sentence one person in that group and you refer to the rest as “n nem”. Therefore, when I created the brand Twin n Nem, I am referring to myself and a group of people who are similar and or alike or corresponding to myself.” But there are steps to begin our change, with the brand Twin n Nem we plan to start this change by helping us develop our character which is the standards in which we live, or the unspoken laws we live by in our communities & cultures. Also by developing our character we will be able to create a youthful generation that has the morals, values, and principles that it will take to lead our communities and cultures to a promising future of peace and love. At Twin n Nem, we understand that in order to make change and in order for leaders to be born we must all say “we have had enough,” but also we must realize I AM YOU, YOU ARE ME.
